Trash Collection

Household Trash Collection

All household garbage must be in plastic bags. Our refuse collectors have been directed not to empty containers that are holding loose or raw garbage. Please keep our city clean and litter free by putting garbage in securely tied plastic bags and placing it out for collection on the morning of pickup—and not before!

Summer Pickup Schedule

As a reminder, the city picks up bagged household garbage twice a week starting the third week in April and ending the last Friday in September. Pickup dates are either Monday/Thursday or Tuesday/Friday.

If your original trash day is Monday OR Thursday, your garbage will be picked up BOTH Monday AND Thursday during the summer pickup months.

If your original trash day is Tuesday OR Friday, your garbage will be picked up both Tuesday AND Friday during the summer pickup months.

Holiday Pickup Schedule

The Sanitation Department collects garbage on all holidays except Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. For the Thanksgiving holiday, Thursday's household garbage only will be picked up Friday. Friday's garbage collection schedule will run as normal. For the Christmas holiday, Thursday, December 25th, household garbage only will be picked up Friday, December 26th.

Yard Waste

To serve all our residents as efficiently as possible, bagged yard waste will be given priority over unbagged yard waste and will be picked up on your regular household trash collection day.

For unbagged yard waste, our Sanitation Department uses a pitch fork to scoop up the pile. There may be times when we are unable to scoop up the entire pile and some debris may remain.

Tires

A collection fee will be charged to pick-up tires. The cost is $3 per tire (with or without rims). Payment must be received in advance of pickup. Please call the Director of Sanitation to arrange for pickup at (803)796-9020, ext. 3044.

Monthly Bulk Pickup

Items included in the monthly bulk collection are refrigerators, stoves, water heaters, air conditioners, freezers, washers and dryers, and furniture (sofas, chairs, mattresses, box springs, rugs, carpets, dressers, recliners, tables, etc.). To confirm whether an item is eligible for the bulk pickup, call the Sanitation Department at City Hall.

Construction, Remodeling, and Demolition Debris

The city does not pick up these items on a regular basis. If the city can feasibly remove the debris, it will be done for a fee. The fee must be paid prior to pickup. Contact the Sanitation Director at 803)796-9020, ext. 3044 for the fee amount and to arrange for pickup.
