Garage Sales
If you're planning a garage sale, please note the following guidelines as outlined in the City's Zoning Ordinance:
- A permit must be obtained from City Hall for each sale and posted at the site of the sale. The cost of each permit is $5.00 per day for a maximum of six days per permit. The maximum number of permits allowed per year is four per family.
- Off-street parking shall be provided for all persons attending the sale.
- No new or used merchandise shall be purchased or brought in for the sale.
- All merchandise shall be that of the family or families conducting the sale.
- Only one sign may be posted advertising the sale. This sign should be placed on the private property of the person conducting the sale. Hours of the sale shall be within the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. No Sunday sales are allowed.
- The use of a public address system is prohibited.
- No alcoholic beverages of any type shall be served or given on or near the premises.
- If upon inspection, the City Manager (or his designee) finds that, in his opinion, the ordinance is being violated, a citation will be issued or the right to continue the sale will be terminated at once.
