CITY OF CAYCE GOVERNMENT INFORMATION
The City of Cayce has a Council-Manager form of government under which voters choose a mayor and four city council members in November elections during each even-numbered year. Terms of office are four years, with council members and mayor serving staggered terms. The City Manager, appointed by the Council, is the city’s chief administrator and is primarily responsible for the efficient operation of the city government.

LEGISLATIVE
The Mayor and four members of City Council are elected to staggered four year terms. Elections are held in November of even numbered years.
The Mayor and Council make policy and enact laws, rules and regulations in order to provide for future community and economic growth. Additionally, the Council provides the necessary support for the orderly and efficient operation of City services.
Council meetings are generally held at 6:00 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month at Cayce City Hall, located at 1800 12th Street Ext. To access Council Meeting Agendas and Minutes of Council Meetings, click on the CITY NEWS tab.

CITY OF CAYCE MUNICIPAL CLERK

The Municipal Clerk serves as a link between the legislative and administrative areas of city government. The Clerk, under state law, is held responsible for the proper recording and filing of all ordinances, resolutions, petitions and other legal documents. The duties and responsibilities of the Municipal Clerk’s office involve extensive coordination and interaction with Mayor, City Council, City Departments, City Boards, Committees, Commissions and the public. The Municipal Clerk is the custodian of all municipal records and the City Seal, receives claims against the city, produces municipal records in court litigations, is liaison between the Municipal Election Commission and City Council on municipal election matters, prepares agendas and records proceedings of City Council and numerous city boards, commissions and committees and attests to all documents issued by the city.

ADVISORY BOARDS, COMMISSIONS, COMMITTEES
Citizens serving on various advisory boards help run the city government by shaping and carrying out policy. A staff member is assigned to each board to assist in conducting business. Each board has a regular meeting day and time (schedules may be altered by holidays). Meetings are open to the public. Members of the public with disabilities who plan to attend a meeting are asked to call the number given prior to the meeting to confirm building accessibility. Schedules and schedule changes are announced on the City’s web site and posted at City Hall. Meetings are held at the City Hall Complex, 1800 12th Street.
Accommodations Tax Committee. Administration Department (803) 796-9020, ext. 3023. Meets as needed on the second Tuesday of the month, at 8 a.m., City Hall Conference Room. Makes recommendations to the City Council regarding approving funding requests for events and activities that attract tourism to the city.
Beautification Board. Planning & Development Department (803) 796-9020, ext. 3054. Meets the first Wednesday of each month, 5:15 p.m., City Hall Conference Room. Makes recommendations to the City Council on project to beautify the city.
Cayce Housing Authority. Columbia Housing Authority, (803) 254-3886, Ext. 211. Meets the third Tuesday every other month, 5 p.m. City Hall Conference Room. Works with Columbia Housing Authority officials to adapt State and Federal financial aid programs to our area’s housing needs.
Cayce Events Committee. Administration Department (803) 796-9020, ext. 3023. Meets the second Thursday of each month, 5:30 p.m., City Hall Conference Room. Makes recommendations to the City Council regarding special events that encourages and fosters good community relations and citizen participation.
Housing Construction Board of Adjustment and Appeals. Planning and Development Department, (803) 796-9020, ext. 3054. Meets as needed, City Hall Conference Room. Reviews citizen appeals to ensure building ordinances are properly interpreted and implemented fairly.
Museum and Historical Commission. Cayce Historical Museum (803) 739-5385. Meets on the second Wednesday of each month, 4:30 p.m., Cayce Historical Museum. Studies and preserves the history of the area and acquires exhibits historically significant works.
Planning Commission. Planning and Development Department, (803) 796-9020, ext. 3054. Meets on the third Monday of each month, 7 p.m., Council Chambers. Makes recommendations to the City Council regarding approving zoning and rezoning requests, adopting zoning and text amendments, requests for annexation into the city limits, and addresses long-range planning issues for the City of Cayce.
Special Projects & Traffic Committee (SPAT). Department of Public Safety, (803) 794-0456, ext. 3036. Meets the second Tuesday every other month as needed, 5:30 p.m., City Hall Conference Room. Investigates traffic-related concerns and reviews citizen requests for street lighting, traffic light signals and signage, and the paving and resurfacing of streets and makes recommendations to the City Council.
Board of Zoning Appeals. Planning & Development Department, (803) 796-9020, ext. 3054. Meets the third Monday of each month as needed, 6 p.m., Council Chambers. Reviews zoning appeals and makes final determination as to whether appeals are denied or upheld.
